Santa Fe, NM — January 29, 2010 Don Kirby and Joan Gentry are fine art, large format, black and white photographers who live and work in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Don specializes in traditional wet-process photography and produces limited edition fine prints for exhibit, purchase, publishing and license. He works primarily in the landscape, and within the landscape work has completed two major bodies of work, one on the Ancestral Pueblo (Anasazi Cliff Dweller) culture of the Colorado Plateau, and the other on the Wheatcountry of the Northwestern US. Nazraeli Press published two books on the Wheatcountry work.
Joan specializes in traditional wet process photography and produces fine prints for exhibition, purchase, publishing and license. Her film formats include 35mm, 2¼, and 4x5. In addition to the unique PhotoBlot© series, she has produced a series of street photographs in Albuquerque and Santa Fe NM in the 1970's, architectural work, abstract light/shadow architectural work on the UNM campus, Ancestral Pueblo dwellings and rock art photographs and landscape work. She has a Master of Arts degree from the University of New Mexico where she studied with Beaumont Newhall, Tom Barrow, and Anne Noggle, among a distinguished group of instructors.
